Snipers kill Dallas officers...Obama attending NATO summit...Arrest in San Diego homeless killings

DALLAS (AP) — Dallas police say two snipers firing from elevated positions in downtown Dallas opened fire on police officers "ambush style" at the end of a police protest, wounding 11 officers, four of them fatally. Police Chief David Brown says the shooters triangulated their positions in an attempt to kill as many officers as possible. Police say one suspect has been arrested and a person of interest has surrendered. Police also say a suspicious package is being secured by a bomb squad.

ST. PAUL (AP) — Minnesota authorities have identified the two police officers involved in the fatal shooting of a black Minnesota man during a traffic stop. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension names them as Officer Jeronimo Yanez and Officer Joseph Kauser. It says both have been with the St. Anthony Police Department for four years. The shooting happened Wednesday night. The man's girlfriend livestreamed video from the car, which has been seen by millions.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — President Barack Obama has arrived in Poland as part of a five-day, two-country mission to Europe. He'll attend a meeting with NATO allies. They'll likely consider aggressive moves by Moscow.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Police in San Diego say a suspect will be charged in connection with attacks on homeless people who were sleeping alone and sometimes set on fire. The suspect has been identified as Anthony Alexander Padgett. He's being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Two men were killed and two seriously injured.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — A powerful typhoon has slammed into Taiwan's eastern coast, killing at least two people and injuring dozens more. More than 15,000 people have been evacuated. The storm generated ferocious winds and torrential rains to the area.
