ROME (AP) — Italian police say they've made an arrest in the death of an American student whose body was found in a river in Rome. Authorities identified the suspect as a 40-year-old homeless man. Police pulled the body of Beau Solomon from the river on Monday. The 19-year-old student from Wisconsin had been last seen early Friday morning at a pub, shortly after arriving in Rome.
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi Arabia says it was a Pakistani man who carried out a suicide bombing outside the U.S. Consulate in Jiddah. An Interior Ministry statement says the 34-year-old man (Abdullah Qalzar Khan) came to Saudi Arabia 12 years ago to work as a driver, and that he lived in Jiddah with his wife and her parents. Monday's bombing near the diplomatic post was the first of three targeting the kingdom.
PARIS (AP) — Last year's terror attacks in Paris will be the focus of a report to be released today. The report analyzes French intelligence failings before the deadly Islamic extremist attacks. The commission will release 39 proposals aimed at preventing a repeat. Attacks in January 2015 killed 17 people, while 130 people were killed in a coordinated rampage in November.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Eight years after Hillary Clinton helped unite Democrats behind Barack Obama's White House campaign, the president is returning the favor. Obama and Clinton will make their first joint appearance of the 2016 campaign today in North Carolina. Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump will hold his own event in the political battleground state a few hours later.
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — After a five-year journey, a NASA spacecraft has arrived at the solar system's largest planet on a mission to peek behind its cloud tops. The solar-powered Juno spacecraft fired its main rocket engine and gracefully slipped into orbit around Jupiter. Mission controllers celebrated when Juno sent back radio signals confirming it had reached its destination.
