More deaths in Iraq...Clinton campaign denounces Trump' star tweet...Trump meets with Ernst

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi officials say ten more people have been killed today in a series of bombings in Baghdad. This, a day after a truck bombing along a busy commercial street left at least 157 people dead and about 200 others wounded. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for that attack.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton's campaign says a tweet from Donald Trump that appeared to feature the Star of David is "disturbing" and part of a pattern that "should give voters major cause for concern." The campaign's comments come after Trump blamed the media for the controversy involving an anti-Clinton tweet that appeared to depict the symbol of Judaism, a six-pointed star, atop a pile of cash. The tweet was sent from Trump's official account Saturday, then deleted. A new version was later posted with a circle in place of the star.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump is spending part of his July 4th with Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, amid speculation about his vice presidential pick. Trump tweets that Ernst "has done a great job as senator of Iowa!" Ernst is a first-term senator, a combat veteran and the first woman elected to Congress from Iowa. She ran on a platform of cutting wasteful spending, with the slogan "Make 'em squeal." Trump also spent time over the weekend with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

HAZEL CREST, Ill. (AP) — The police chief in a Chicago suburb where a man and his two daughters were killed Saturday in their home is calling the act "pure evil" and urging anyone with information to share it with investigators. Authorities have not identified any suspects in the shootings in Hazel Crest, but police Chief Mitchell Davis says it was a "targeted event." Dionus Neely, who was 39, and his three-year-old and ten-year-old daughters were fatally shot.

NEW YORK (AP) — Joey "Jaws" Chestnut has upset Matt Stonie to regain the championship title at the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island, New York. Chestnut downed 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, beating out Stonie by 17 dogs. Chestnut's 70 dogs were the most ever eaten at a competition. In 2013, he set a world record by eating 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.
