RENO, Nev. (AP) — Detectives say a Nevada woman accused of killing her husband with a carving knife 12 years ago has said that she and another man tried to encase his body in concrete when they buried him in a shallow grave. Pam Erwin was arrested Jan. 5 on murder and conspiracy charges in the death of James Erwin. Her alleged accomplice, James Melendez of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, was arrested Jan. 11.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — An inmate who had been committed from Washoe County has died at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City. Prison officials say 58-year-old Gary Lewellin had been serving a sentence for burglary and robbery since 2010. He was serving a 56- to 300-month sentence. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno Police have arrested three suspects after a vehicle crashed on an Interstate 80 off-ramp while evading police early yesterday. Police say the vehicle sped away after an officer tried to make a traffic stop. The three suspects fled, but were apprehended a few hours later.

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — A 20-year-old Sparks man been arrested on charges accusing him of intentionally starting a fire in his apartment last weekend. Sparks police say Tristan Dufurrena has been charged with first-degree arson. No one was hurt. It's not clear if he has hired an attorney.
