VIENNA (AP) — U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is welcoming implementation of the nuclear deal between Iran and six major powers as "a significant milestone." U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power says with the arrival of "Implementation Day" provisions of seven sanctions resolutions on Iran terminated and binding provisions in a resolution adopted last July come into force.
VIENNA (AP) — The four Americans released in Iran under a negotiated prisoner exchange are still in that country as arrangements progress to get them out. That's according to a senior Obama administration official. A fifth American, released separately, is already on his way home. As part of the exchange, the U.S. will free seven Iranians from American custody.
HONOLULU (AP) — Teams in Hawaii are expanding their search for 12 Marines missing after a helicopter crash to include Oahu's western coast. The search area now covers waters off Waianae in addition to the north shore. Officials say high surf is dispersing the debris and complicating the effort. Two Marine Corps helicopters went down off Oahu's north shore late Thursday.
PASADENA, Texas (AP) — Officials say an explosion at a Houston-area chemical plant has left one worker dead and three hurt. Pasadena police say the tank accident happened this afternoon at the PeroxyChem Bayport Plant. The company says the workers were doing a routine function when the contractor's equipment exploded. A contractor died at the scene
GENEVA (AP) — Swiss police say two foreigners have been killed in an avalanche while they were skiing away from prepared runs.in the Alps. Police in Valais canton (state) in southwestern Switzerland say the avalanche hit a group of four men on Saturday afternoon. Rescue workers arriving by helicopter say two of the men were found unharmed.
