BERLIN (AP) — A key tip from French authorities of a possible New Year's Eve attack has police in the German city of Munich maintaining a heightened presence even today. Munich police spokesman Sven Mueller says up to 200 additional officers are patrolling the streets to spot any suspicious activity and reassure the population. Two Munich train stations were evacuated for a time late Thursday.

PARIS (AP) — A political flap has erupted in France over citizenship revocation for convicted terrorists. The plan has strong public support but some on the left express indignation at what they call a divisive measure. The proposal was submitted shortly after the Paris attacks and would apply to those with dual nationalities and not to people who are only French citizens. A current, similar law is rarely used.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraq's military says troops fought off Islamic State group militants carrying out suicide attacks in the western city of Ramadi days after troops drove them out of the city center. Brig. Gen. Ahmed al-Belawi says the militants stuck security forces yesterday and that there were casualties. He wasn't specific.

PATHANKOT, India (AP) — Indian troops battled suspected militants today, killing four at an air force base near the border with Pakistan. At least two soldiers were killed along with four attackers. More gunfire was heard about two hours after the original attack, which is viewed by many in India as an attempt to unravel recent progress in the country's relationship with archrival Pakistan.

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) — Officials say it all started with a dispute over a washing machine on New year's Eve and ended with four people dead. A man shot and killed his wife and two others in his home before his son wrestled the gun away and fatally shot him. The 54-year-old father was a heavy drinker with a large gun collection, and authorities had made dozens of previous trips to the home. The son is in custody for investigation of murder.
