UNDATED (AP) — Las Vegas and Los Angeles have now said goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016. In Vegas, sprays of gold glittery fireworks lit up the already well-lit city with an eight-minute fireworks show shot from seven casino rooftops. Earlier in New York City, some one million people in Times Square watched the 11,875-pound Waterford crystal ball drop at the stroke of midnight.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Some towns in southern Missouri and Illinois are still waiting for floodwaters to crest, while towns closer to St. Louis are trying to regroup after record high water. In Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, the Mississippi is expected to crest late today or early tomorrow, and many downtown merchants have cleared out in case the levee gives way. A record-tying crest is expected by the weekend in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A massive skyscraper fire in Dubai continues to burn into the morning. The blaze at the Address Downtown, one of the most upscale hotels and residences in Dubai, started last night, and more than 12 hours later, firefighters are largely watching the fire from the ground. At one point they were unable to use a water hose on a ladder truck. Authorities say at least 14 people sustained minor injuries.

ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) — Five people were killed in Ontario, California when two vehicles collided near a freeway off ramp. KTLA is reporting that the crash happened last night when a car veered off the ramp and hit the other car. The dead are four adults and a child.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Wayne Rogers has died at age 82. His publicist says Rogers died Thursday of complications from pneumonia. Rogers played Trapper John McIntyre on the 1970s TV show "M.A.S.H."
