LAS VEGAS (AP) — A hiker was killed after falling 100 feet at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas. The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the hiker as 25-year-old Brian Tracy, of Spokane, Washington. Authorities say Tracy was climbing inside Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area around 11:30 a.m. Saturday when he fell.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A hearing is scheduled Thursday for a Reno man sentenced to 28 years in prison for killing and dismembering seven dogs to determine if he is eligible for parole. The Reno Gazette Journal reports Jason Brown was sentenced in October. The Reno Gazette Journal reports a judge will decide whether to grant the prosecution's request to aggregate the sentences, making Brown serve at least 11 years.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the Springs Preserve are heading a program to recycle Christmas trees through Jan. 15 at more than 30 drop-off locations in and around Las Vegas. UNLV Rebel Recycling director Tara Pike-Nordstrom says more than 175,000 trees have been reduced to mulch for landscaping and dust control since the program started in 2001.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas restaurant is using surveillance video from a break-in to dish out jabs at the suspected burglars on social media. The Las Vegas Sun reports a manager at Frijoles & Frescas Grilled Tacos added some humorous on-screen narration to footage from a Dec. 16 break-in and posted the final product to YouTube. The video had amassed nearly 3 million views as of Saturday.
