MADRID (AP) — A Spanish official says the suspected gunman on a European train had traveled to Syria. The official, linked to Spain's anti-terrorism unit, said the individual lived in Spain until 2014, then moved to France, travelled to Syria, and then returned to France. French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that the suspect may be a 26-year-old Moroccan flagged by Spanish authorities last year for links to Islamic radical movements. He's in custody in Paris and being questioned after three Americans and a British citizen subdued him and took his weapons.
