BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Gov. Butch Otter will announce today whether he'll call a special session to address the state's noncompliance with federal child support rules. Idaho Department of Health and Welfare officials say the state's ability to collect and distribute out-of-state child support payments will end in mid-June if state lawmakers don't reconvene and pass the Uniform Interstate Family Security Act.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Animal rights lawyers are asking a federal judge to strike down an Idaho law aiming to stop people from secretly filming animal abuse in the state's agricultural facilities. The law's opponents asked the judge for a summary judgment — a fast-tracked way for a judge to rule on a lopsided case without having a full trial. The judge says he hopes to issue his ruling next week.

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — Mosquito abatement is a month early in Canyon County, as this year's flooding at the edge of Lake Lowell has produced prime real estate for an infestation. KIVI-TV reports the high water levels are due to irrigation in anticipation of a dry summer. The shallow, shaded, food-filled water provides mosquitoes with the perfect environment to reproduce. Abatement officials are using bacterial poison while the water is still too cold for the larvae to take flight.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Frank Henderson, a World War II Army veteran whose many years of public service included 10 years as a northern Idaho state representative, has died. He was 92. His wife confirmed that he died Monday at a northern Idaho hospice facility. A cause of death wasn't given.
