Washoe County Sheriff's detectives say the shooting occurred as a man in his late 50s and the man's father confronted two strangers who were making noise outside their Spanish Springs home. CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval has appointed a Sparks casino executive to fill a vacancy on the Nevada Gaming Commission. Sandoval announced that Michonne Ascuaga will take the seat previously held by Joe Brown, who announced his resignation from the board this month. She'll start immediately and fill out the rest of Brown's term, which ends in April 2017.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers are considering a bill that would limit lawsuit payouts for uninsured drivers involved in crashes. The measure would allow uninsured Nevada drivers to collect only financial damages related to medical and property costs and would prevent them from collecting noneconomic payouts like compensation for pain and suffering.
