LOS ANGELES (AP) — Scientists have spied a vast reservoir of hot, partly molten rock beneath the supervolcano at Yellowstone National Park. It's big enough to fill the Grand Canyon 11 times over. Scientists say the discovery will help them understand Yellowstone's volcanic plumbing system, but it doesn't increase the risk of an eruption, which is estimated to happen every 700,000 years.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Big Sky Conference and the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority have reached a three-year deal to play the men's and women's basketball tournaments at Reno Events Center. All 12 schools will participate in the tournaments that will extend over six days starting next year.

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — A man committed to a psychiatric hospital nearly a decade ago has been jailed to face a first-degree murder charge. The Idaho Mountain Express reports that 37-year-old Harley Robert Park is being held in the Elmore County jail in Mountain Home. He was recently released from State Hospital South after doctors determined he was fit to stand trial. A defense attorney says he'll challenge the doctors' assessment.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 65-year-old Boise woman who died in a fire at her home was a well-known artist with work in galleries in multiple states. Molly Hill died of carbon monoxide poisoning after a fire started her bedroom, filling the house with smoke. Hill began painting after retiring in her 40s.
