BOSTON (AP) — Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehv) hasn't been showing any reaction today, even as survivors of the bombing and family members of those who died have described the horror of the attack in heartbreaking detail. At the penalty phase of his trial, the witnesses have included a woman who lost her legs in the attack -- and who described the "bloodcurdling screams" she heard. Celeste Corcoran said she was in such severe pain, she wanted to die -- but then decided she had to survive for her family.

NAJRAN, Saudi Arabia (AP) — The nearly month-long campaign of air strikes against rebels in Yemen will apparently be scaled down. A spokesman for the coalition targeting the rebels -- a coalition led by Saudi Arabia -- says the first phase of the effort is over, but a new phase will begin. He says the goal will be protecting civilians, and keeping the rebels from operating.

WASHINGTON (AP) — As President Barack Obama tries to secure a free-trade agreement with Asia-Pacific nations, he's running into criticism from within his own party. And Obama says those Democrats -- including Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren -- are "wrong." He tells MSNBC he wouldn't pursue the trade deal if he didn't think it would be good for middle-class Americans. Obama wants "fast-track" authority to advance trade deals being negotiated with several nations. Congress would be able to reject or support -- but not change -- those deals.

INKSTER, Mich. (AP) — A judge has entered a not guilty plea and set bond at $25,000 for a Detroit-area police officer charged in the beating of a motorist that was caught on video. William Melendez appeared in Inkster District Court today, a day after he was charged with assault and mistreating a prisoner. Floyd Dent was pulled from his car and repeatedly punched in the head during a traffic stop in Inkster in January. Prosecutors say they didn't know about the beating until a TV station aired dashcam video of the arrest in March.

BAKER, Louisiana (AP) — Fellow musicians, family members and friends have been remembering singer Percy Sledge today for his talent and his kindness. A funeral was held in Louisiana for Sledge, whose five-decade career was launched with his biggest hit, "When a Man Loves a Woman." He died last week at the age of 74 after battling liver cancer.
