SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Militiamen loyal to Yemen's exiled president are laying siege to an air base that was once key to the U.S. drone program targeting al-Qaida militants in the country. A spokesman says the militia is fighting to dislodge the Shiite rebels holding the complex. He says the rebels have been forced to abandon part of the base.

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghan President Ashraf Ghani says the Islamic State group is responsible for a suicide bombing at a bank in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday. At least 35 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in the attack by a motorcyclist. The targets were soldiers and civilians who were gathered outside the bank in Jalalabad to receive their monthly salaries.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Florida's Panhandle say a man has died after being shot by a police officer. Panama City Police say officers responded early today to a report of a man carrying "a long gun." Police tell The News Herald, that after the officers repeatedly ordered the man to put down his gun, "the suspect engaged officers and they returned fire."

NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio police officer is being praised for holding his fire even as a slaying suspect charged him, saying repeatedly, "shoot me." WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reports the incident was captured Thursday on a body camera worn by the New Richmond officer who says a relative gave it to him following the deadly officer-involved shooting in Ferguson, Missouri

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Passengers become frustrated when they are forced to remain on a plane while it sits on the tarmac for hours. On Friday, one flight kept passengers on the plane for more than six hours at Colorado Springs Airport because of bad weather. Airport officials say they don't know why the airline didn't dock the planes at the gate to let people off. It would have cost the airline $73.
