MCCALL, Idaho (AP) — A federal jury has awarded the former police chief of McCall $400,000 after finding officials in the central Idaho resort town wrongly fired him after he reported the city manager had been driving on a suspended license. Gerald Summers says he's thrilled that the jury agreed with him that he had been wrongly terminated. Summers became police chief in 2005.
BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say a 9-year-old boy accidentally shot his 7-year-old brother in the arm with a .22-caliber firearm. Bingham County's Sheriff tells KIFI-TV that the boy was taken to Harms Memorial Hospital in American Falls. Hospital officials declined to release any information. Authorities are investigating but say the shooting is an accident.
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — A former Idaho inmate and his girlfriend have filed a federal lawsuit against the Idaho Department of Corrections, seeking $50 million in damages because they claim correction staffers retaliated against them. The couple claims correction staffers wrongly harassed them and barred them from meeting because of their efforts in another lawsuit. A department spokesman declined to comment.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The web camera to view streaming video of the peregrine falcons nesting on the 14th floor of a downtown Boise building is up and operating. Officials say the camera started operating April 6 with four eggs already in the nest. They're expected to hatch in about a month. The camera is sponsored by Fish and Game, The Peregrine Fund and Fiberpipe Data Centers.
