LAS VEGAS (AP) — The top prosecutor in Las Vegas says a 17-year-old girl is a victim and won't face criminal charges in a three-generation child abuse case that came to light when the teen's emaciated 4-month-old daughter was hospitalized. Clark County's District Attorney says the teen was released from juvenile detention into county child protective services custody. He says the girl needs family services support.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A death penalty trial has been postponed to February for a former blackjack dealer accused of fatally stabbing her ex-boyfriend's daughter and slashing the face of a Las Vegas Strip casino co-worker in a jealous rage. Court records show Brenda Stokes Wilson's trial was pushed back to give her public defender time to prepare. Trial had been scheduled to start next week.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A man who agreed to be an informant in a drug sting operation but tried to flee with the sheriff's money is facing felony charges. Carson City's Sheriff says 24-year-old Duffy Thomas was arrested twice on Friday. He is charged with drug possession, grand larceny, escaping and obstructing.
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police in North Las Vegas say they're looking for a vehicle and a shooter after two men were shot within minutes of each other and about a block apart during the weekend. The Clark County coroner says 36-year-old Tyrone Ford of Las Vegas died on Cartier Avenue of multiple gunshot wounds. Police say a 42-year-old North Las Vegas man who was shot on Stone River Drive remains hospitalized at University Medical Center. His name hasn't been made public.
