BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho faces a looming deadline to avoid missing out on tens of millions of dollars in child support funding after a bill that would have brought the state into compliance with federal rules was killed last week. Health officials say that if state law isn't revised within about 60 days, then they stand to lose access to programs that help locate child support violators as well as $46 million in federal payouts.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Officials with a northern Idaho facility for troubled children have taken a first step to get a state-imposed ban on accepting new admissions lifted. The Lewiston Tribune reports that Northwest Children's Home submitted a 24-page plan addressing deficiencies that the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare said required immediate remedy. State officials earlier this month banned the facility from taking new admissions after an inspection found problems.

SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A Washington state man who stabbed his father in the neck in northern Idaho near Priest River has been sentenced to four years in prison. The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that 29-year-old Morgan Wolf pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and possession of methamphetamine. Wolf expressed regret at the sentencing and said it was a life-changing event.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Northern Idaho authorities say rescuers engaged in an overnight search after a Washington state man fled a rollover crash because he mistakenly thought he had a warrant for his arrest. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports 43-year-old Jeremy Jernick of Spokane, Washington, was taken into custody on suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash.
