VATICAN CITY (AP) — A rainstorm didn't stop tens of thousands of people nor Pope Francis from celebrating Easter Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square. Francis was shielded by a canopy outside St. Peter's Basilica, while prelates carried umbrellas in the yellow and white colors of the Vatican. The faithful wore rain slickers and held umbrellas during Mass.
UNDATED (AP) — The cavernous Holy Sepulcher church in Jerusalem was packed with worshippers today as they celebrated Easter in the place where Christians believe Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected. A Mass is expected later in Bethlehem's Nativity Church, built atop the site where Christians believe Jesus was born. Orthodox Christians, who follow a different calendar, are marking Palm Sunday today.
GARISSA, Kenya (AP) — Easter in Garissa, Kenya is a mix of grief fear and prayer following an attack on a college that killed 148 people as Islamic Extremists singled out Christians. Security forces patrolled the perimeter of Our Lady of Consolation Church, which was attacked by al-Shabab militants almost three years ago. Al-Shabab continues to threaten more attacks.
DALLAS (AP) — Texas Health Resources is asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit by a nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for the first U.S. patient to succumb to the deadly disease. The hospital operator denies allegations of poor training and improper preparation. The Dallas Morning News reports Nina Pham seeks unspecified damages in her lawsuit.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The latest follow up is expected today about what went wrong as Rolling Stone published a horrifying tale of a gang rape at the University of Virginia. The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism is about to issue its analysis of the editorial process that led to the November 2014 publication of "A Rape on Campus." The release is scheduled tonight. News organizations have already exposed serious flaws in the report and police found no evidence.
