DENVER (AP) — The Republican Party is expanding its Hispanic outreach in the Southwest. The party today will announce it is hiring six new Hispanic outreach staffers in Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. The southwest boasts two highly popular Hispanic Republican governors, Brian Sandoval in Nevada and New Mexico's Susana Martinez. But the region has trended Democratic during the Obama administration as increasing numbers of Hispanic voters are repelled by some Republicans' tough stance on immigration.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno liquor and convenience store owner has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his conviction on 16 counts involving the sale of synthetic drugs known as "spice." Authorities say the spice 34-year-old Iqbal Singh-Sidhu sold was labeled as "Diablo," ''Hayze," ''White Rhino" and "Smokin Dragon." The synthetic drugs have hallucinogenic effects on the central nervous system that are more dramatic than marijuana.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified an employee killed after a freak accident at the MGM Grand casino as 59-year-old Ricky Robinson of Las Vegas. Fire officials say he couldn't get out of the way of a moving maintenance cart, was pushed out a third-floor window and fell to his death.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police now say that an officer, not Amanda Miller, fatally shot her husband Jerad Miller, as the two were cornered in a Las Vegas Wal-Mart. Department officials released dramatic store security video of the last seconds before Amanda and Jerad Miller died. The couple killed three people, including two officers.
