2 Las Vegas police officers killed...Attacks in Pakistan kill at least 36...Kerry defends Bergdahl exchange

UNDATED (AP) — Las Vegas police are mourning the loss of two of their own. Authorities say two suspects shot and killed the officers while they were eating lunch at a restaurant Sunday before fatally shooting a third person and killing themselves inside a nearby Walmart. Hadfield says one of the suspects yelled, "This is a revolution," but the motive for the shooting is under investigation.

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — It isn't clear if a deadly airport assault in Karachi and a suicide bombing at a hotel in Baluchistan on Sunday are connected. But the attacks are sadly familiar for Pakistan, which has seen thousands killed by militants in recent years. The airport attack killed at least 13 people and the hotel bombing killed at least 23 Shiite pilgrims who were returning from Iran.

PARIS (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry is defending the release of five Taliban militants in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl who had been held captive in Afghanistan. He says "It would have been offensive and incomprehensible to consciously leave an American behind." But Sen. John McCain says such a swap should not be made "at the expense of the lives or well-being of their fellow servicemen and women." Both men appeared on CNN.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Donald Sterling still hasn't signed off on the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers, but NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says believes the process is nearing completion. Sterling also hasn't agreed to drop his lawsuit against Silver or the NBA. Silver says he understands the banned owner's frustrations, but adds that "I think it's over."

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez is the Miss USA 2014. The fourth-degree black belt in the Korean martial art of taekwondo beat out 50 other contestants Sunday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. First runner-up was Miss North Dakota Audra Mari. Sanchez will go on from the 63rd Miss USA to represent the U.S. at the Miss Universe competition later this year.
