MONCTON, New Brunswick (AP) — Authorities in New Brunswick, Canada have arrested a man suspected in the shooting deaths of three Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the wounding of two others. Twenty-four-year-old Justin Bourque was arrested shortly after midnight Thursday in the city of Moncton, where Wednesday's shootings occurred. Authorities believe Bourque is the man pictured wearing military camouflage and carrying two rifles.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware's transportation secretary is ordering an immediate inspection of major bridges throughout the state, after the discovery that that I-495 span in Wilmington is tilting. Two of the bridge's concrete barriers are supposed to be the same height, but one is 18 inches higher than the other. The bridge has been closed since Monday.

PARIS (AP) - More details are emerging about the new book penned by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Clinton writes in "Hard Choices" that she encouraged President Barack Obama to lift or ease the decades-long U.S. embargo on Cuba because it was no longer useful to American interests or promoting change on the communist island. The book will be released next week.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Part of a new platform advancing at the Texas Republican Party's state convention endorses psychological treatment to try to turn gay people straight. The anti-gay language is partly to show Texas Republicans' sharp disapproval of laws in two states that ban so-called "reparative therapy" on minors. The language in the platform survived a key vote late Thursday at the Texas Republican Convention and will be up for final consideration Saturday.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Republicans want a well-known protester who wants to run against Congressman Paul Ryan to be kicked off the primary ballot. The GOP state party says Jeremy Ryan misled prospective voters into thinking they were signing up to legalize marijuana and instead they were signing up for a congressional challenger to Paul Ryan. The party is asking elections officials to disqualify Jeremy Ryan.
