PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS-FOSTER KIDS

DENVER — A University of Colorado analysis obtained by The Denver Post shows that more than 25 percent of Colorado's foster children in 2012 were prescribed psychotropic drugs. The Post Sunday (http://bit.ly/1hxyWlz ) reported that foster children took antipsychotics at a rate 12 times greater than other children on government insurance. About 4,300 of Colorado's 16,800 foster children were prescribed psychotropic drugs in 2012.

GRADE INFLATION

GRAND JUNCTION — A Grand Junction school district is denying allegations of grade inflation after several teachers testified in a case involving the termination of a teacher. The Daily Sentinel reports Sunday (http://bit.ly/1nlnI45) that an administrative law judge recommended retaining Grand Junction High School math teacher Jane White after teachers testified that administrators pressure them to avoid give students D's and F's. Judge Matthew E. Norwood wrote that multiple teachers testified that administrators pressured them in order to minimize complaints from parents and ensure extracurricular eligibility.
