FALLON, Nev. (AP) — The Navy says a fighter jet has crashed during a training exercise in western Nevada, and the pilot's condition is not immediately known. The F/A-18C Hornet crashed about 3 p.m. yesterday on a Navy range training complex about 70 miles east of Naval Air Station Fallon. The cause is under investigation.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a woman in her 80s drove into a grocery store, sending nine people to hospitals. Lt. Ken Romane tells The Associated Press that the woman lost control of her pickup and rammed into the front of the Food 4 Less store at Eastern and Sahara avenues just before 3 p.m. yesterday. Romane says the store will be closed for at least another day.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Assemblywoman Lucy Flores announced her candidacy yesterday in the race for Nevada lieutenant governor and pledged to be a voice for the middle class. The Las Vegas Democrat drew support from several key Nevada Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Reps. Dina Titus and Steven Horsford, and Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Recent storms have allowed some ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada to open all of their terrain, but others still need more snow before they can fully open. Mammoth Mountain, just east of Yosemite National Park, has all lifts and runs in operation. The resort reported 3-4 feet of new snow since Thursday. Squaw Valley reported 80 percent of its terrain was open after getting 2.5 feet of new snow over the last week.
