This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Nanette Mathieu gives credit to her banker for the launch of her dream business …City Cakes and Café in Salt Lake City. She has never forgotten when he told her, "We bet on the jockey, not the horse."
Now, over three years later, Nanette is winning her race with solid growth every year. With her successful bakery and café, she has just moved to a new location at 10th South Main Street, doubling her size to 3,600 square feet. She caught the vision of gluten-free, vegan and sugar-free baked goods while also adding a café with the same fare.
Nanette witnessed the boring choices for folks with allergies and had always dreamed of owning a bakery, and now she does. Her wedding cakes from City Cakes and Café are really catching on because she will make a beautiful wedding cake with different tiers, one for food allergies, plus a traditional tier for all the guests who can eat regular cake. You can also order any kind of birthday cake to address allergies because there are a lot of kids and adults who can't have eggs, dairy, wheat or sugar.
It's not surprising Nanette is successful with her background working for Mrs. Fields, and she's been in retail food management for years. She has cumulated all of this experience and is focused on providing an outstanding product that remains consistent for her customers. That's why she now supports 12 businesses with her products including Whole Foods, as word of City Cakes and Café spread. She is trusted because of her focus on quality and on-time deliveries.
Her website, citycakescafe.com, and her Facebook page show many of the creations at City Cakes and Café. Through website tracking Nanette has discovered international interest in her business. People from all over are checking out how gluten free and vegan is done so it's beautiful and delicious. In case you don't have a sweet tooth, check out the café for the well-known vegan mac and cheese, southwest black bean burger or homemade soups and chili.
