(KSL News) Hill's Pet Nutrition has voluntarily added one of its Prescription Diet foods to the recall list of tainted pet food products.
But this food is DRY--the first dry food to join the recalled list. The food is Prescription Diet M/D Feline Dry Cat Food. This food includes the wheat gluten from the same supplier Menu Foods used. The recall doesn't involve any other Prescription Diet or Science Diet products.
Federal testing of recalled pet foods turned up a chemical used to make plastics but failed to confirm the presence of a cancer drug also used as rat poison.
The FDA says it's received more than 8,000 complaints about pet food sickening or killing dogs and cats.
