A Pakistani woman has died after 10 inch forceps were left in her abdomen during a caesarean operation last year (05), doctors report. Shahzadi Shahida Sultana, 35, of Hyderabad was being kept alive by life support when she passed away due to complications following an emergency operation. This came nearly three weeks after the woman was admitted to the hospital suffering severe abdominal pain. The victim's brother Shadab Gul says the mother of two had been plagued by the condition for a year but Sultana's poor financial situation deterred her from seeking an ultra-sound test or an X-ray and she had only received pain killers as treatment. Sultana's relatives have filed a complaint with police against five doctors at the government-run Liaqat Medical University Hospital. The hospital has suspended two doctors who led the caesarean, while three post-graduate medical students who assisted in the procedure have been found guilty of negligence are facing further action.
