On this 300th anniversary of his birth, KSL joins Americans in honoring the memory of Benjamin Franklin, one of the nation’s greatest Founding Fathers.
And with Utah’s annual legislative session getting underway, it seems appropriate to recall some of Franklin’s wisdom – a few thoughts for lawmakers to reflect on as they proceed with the public’s business:
-Energy and persistence conquer all things.
-He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money.
-He that speaks much, is much mistaken.
-People who are wrapped up in themselves make small packages.
-It's common for Men to give pretended Reasons instead of one real one.
-Silence is not always a Sign of Wisdom, but Babbling is ever a folly.
-He that falls in love with himself will have no rivals.
-To err is human, to repent divine; to persist devilish.
-Those who in quarrels interpose, must often wipe a bloody nose.
-Well done is better than well said.
-He that can have patience can have what he will.
-Do not fear mistakes. You will know failure. Continue to reach out.
-Honesty is the best policy.
A sampling of the timeless wisdom of Benjamin Franklin, recalled on the 300th anniversary of his birth in Boston, January 17, 1706.
