NEW YORK, Oct 5, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- TV's "Queer Eye For the Straight Guy" culture guru Jai Rodriguez is getting ready to join the Broadway production of "The Producers."

Rodriguez will step into the role of Carmen Ghia Nov. 1, Playbill reported Wednesday. He will also portray the role in the upcoming film version of the Mel Brooks' comedy.

Rodriguez is not a stranger to Broadway. He was Angel in "Rent" and starred in the Off-Broadway hit, "Zanna Don't!"

The role of Max Bialystock will be turning over Oct. 25, when John Treacy Egan takes over the part, Playbill reported.

Egan recently played Franz Liebkind in "The Producers," but took a break as he prepares to change roles.
