While Mike Mele was attending college, his uncle, Tony Mele, trained him in the tile business, emphasizing Old Italian craftsmanship and methodology. Mike enjoyed the work so much that he took up tiling on his own, which eventually led him to start Mele Tile and Natural Stone Company, in 1986.

Salt Lake City-based Mele Tile and Natural Stone installs tile and stone as well as fabricates granite, marble, engineered stones and many other uncommon materials. The company has relationships with all the major suppliers in the valley, providing customers with an endless selection of materials.

Over the years, Mele Tile has installed its countertops in homes that have received various awards, such as "Best Interior" in the Park City Parade of Homes and "People's Choice" in the Davis Country Parade of Homes. Much of the company's success is driven by repeat customers. Mike's objective is to ensure each project is completed as professionally and expeditiously as possible, according to the homeowner's specifications. This is why each job begins with an in-depth analysis during the proposal process and communication throughout the installation.

The company's success can be attributed to its expertise and quality as well as its ability to manage projects both large and small. The office manager holds a master's degree in construction management, which provides the administrative capability to work on larger scale projects such as the Deer Valley Lodge and the Ironwood Condominiums in Deer Valley.

Mele Tile recently hired the only Certified Caesarstone Tech in the state to help fulfill increasing demand for engineered stones. And the company has recently hired outside sales representatives to spread the word about Mele Tile's unique products and services. The goal at Mele Tile and Natural Stone is a slow and controlled growth to ensure it maintains the quality of work it has become known for.
