Sandra Yi reporting The F-B-I has nearly finished interviewing about 100 Iraqi immigrants who live in Utah.

Those interviews are meant to gather information that may help in the war effort - and to protect Iraqis from hate crimes.

But the American Civil Liberties Union calls it "racial profiling."

The A-C-L-U handed out fliers to the Muslim community, to let them know of their rights and to know who to call for legal help.

The A-C-L-U says there's a problem when the F-B-I interviews people just because they're from Iraq.

The executive director says some Iraqi immigrants in other states have complained about unfair treatment from agents.

The A-C-L-U wants people here to know they can keep that from happening to them.

Dani Eyer/Executive Director/ACLU: "IN SOME STATES, THEY'VE BEEN VERY HEAVY HANDED AND SOME HAVE ENTERED INTO AN INTERROGATION MODE AND HAVE ACTUALLY DETAINED PEOPLE FOR IMMIGRATION VIOLATIONS."

An F-B-I spokesperson declined an on camera interview but says their purpose is to protect all citizens of Utah.

He says they are not targeting anyone and are sensitive to cultural differences and issues.
