Sandra Yi ReportingThis evening police have brought Henry Jackson into custody in North Salt Lake. He had been on the run for more than 24 hours after allegedly running over his ex-girlfriend, stabbing her son and then stabbing their dog.

Jackson was found at the home of a friend this afternoon. We found out that before he was taken into custody Jackson was examined by paramedics because he complained of feeling ill.

Stabbing Suspect Arrested

The family he attacked is breathing a sigh of relief with his capture and the son who stepped in to help his mom is being called a hero.

Cameron Hardman: "I was trying to get the knife from him before he could do anything with it."

He stepped in to help his mother, and ended up getting stabbed several times.

Hardman was familiar with Henry Jackson, the man had been dating his mother. He was also familiar with Jackson's increasingly erratic behavior. But neither he nor his mother had any idea what Jackson was truly capable of.

Eighteen-year-old Cameron Hardman is his mother's hero.

Kathy Capellen: "I'm grateful he's alive."

Stabbing Suspect Arrested

Yesterday her ex-boyfriend was waiting for her outside her apartment. When she came home, he went on a rampage. She says Henry Jackson tried to run her down with his car, and then backed up over her foot. Hardman came to her rescue. When he punched Jackson, Jackson pulled out a butcher knife.

Cameron Hardman, Stabbing Victim: "It was by the emergency break in his car. After I hit him one time, he was struggling for it and pulled it out and went, 'bam'. And then he went to go grab my mom, and I was just trying to get him away. And then he stabbed me in my back and my chest."

Hardman's dog Tyson, didn't hesitate to protect his owner, but Jackson stabbed it in the neck.

Patrick Lesa, Cameron's Brother: "He's courageous. I bred him. I gave it to him. I'm glad he did that."

Stabbing Suspect Arrested

When neighbors called police, Jackson took off his car. According to court records, Jackson previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He told Capellen, he killed his wife, but she continued to date him.

Kathy Capellen: "He was very nice, very polite, a very gentle man."

She tried to end things when Jackson became controlling. She says he was upset she was moving.

Kathy Capellen: "I'm angry. I don't know why it had to come to this."

But family members are grateful no one was seriously hurt. They say without Cameron or Tyson things could have ended differently.

Patrick Lesa: "Saved my mom's life. Without them, she probably wouldn't be here now."

Cameron Hardman: "Someone was watching me that day."
