(KSL News) -- Two Utah men are accused of defacing rare rock art near Vernal.

The Bureau of Land Management says both men live along the Wasatch Front and turned themselves in on Monday. BLM officials say the pair admitted to partially defacing some of the rock pictographs in the Book Cliffs area of Uintah County.

The vandalism is a violation of the Archaeological Resource Protection Act, and both men could face federal charges.
