Jed Boal ReportingA photographer and a soldier from Utah will give a gift to major players in the Bush Administration.
Utahns marched in support of our troops September 11th. Many of those same Utahns rallied for the President when he visited Salt Lake City a month earlier. Photographer Joy Gough captured many patriotic images those days.
Joy Gough, Photographer: "I was very moved at the reminding I had of who we are and what out country represents."
Veterans of wars past and present, parents of soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice. She put together a composite for President Bush and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
Joy Gough, Photographer: "No matter how we feel about how he's doing, there are different opinions about that. The bottom line is, we're America and we support our country and want to show gratitude to those who do the service."
Paul Holton, a soldier with the Utah National Guard and founder of Operation Give, will take the composites to Washington tomorrow. Holton met Rumsfeld when the Defense Secretary visited his warehouse back in August.
Joy Gough, Photographer: "That's something we need to remember at all times. Whether we're parents or college students, or teens, we are a great country and it's our influence around the world that's making a difference."
They hope their gifts to our country's leaders represent that patriotism.
In two years, Operation Give has sent 35 truckloads of gifts and supplies to Iraqis and US soldiers.
