SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A man accused in the death of a 16-year-old passenger while running from police in Big Cottonwood Canyon has entered a plea.

Yesterday, 43-year-old Scott J. Hall pleaded guilty to a second-degree manslaughter charge in the death of his girlfriend, Jessica Archer, last March. He also pleaded guilty to fleeing from police.

Authorities say Hall fled after a deputy pulled up next to them to investigate apparent sexual activity in the car, which turned out to be stolen.

Police say Archer died after Hall's car crashed head-on into a van. Hall is scheduled to be sentenced January 17th. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
