(KSL News) -- A leader in the state Senate is stepping down to take a post in the Huntsman administration.

Senate Assistant Majority Whip Beverly Evans has announced plans to retire on November 1 so she can begin working on rural economic development with the Governor's Office of Economic Development.

Evans has respresented the Uintah Basin in the state legislature since 1986. She was not seeking re-election this fall.
