(KSL News) A family in Taylorsville was forced from their home early this morning when their house caught on fire.

When fire crews arrived at 3700 West 4900 South they found smoke billowing out of the basement. The size of the fire prompted crews to call in a second unit.

Initially crews thought two people were trapped inside, but it turned out they had just wandered away.

Everyone, including the family cat, made it out okay.

Investigators believe the fire started in the furnace room and spread throughout the basement.

The upstairs suffered smoke and water damage.
