(KSL News) The Utah National Guard will get a new armory.

The new 126-thousand square foot building will be built next the Utah Air National Guard facility and serve about 320 soldiers and airmen.

The center will store equipment and vehicles, and provide classrooms and offices for the Guard.

The facilities director feels it will help with recruiting efforts in the North Salt Lake area.

Planning for the armory began about seven years ago. Counstruction is expected to begin in 2008 and take 18 months to complete.
