Keith McCord and Mary Richards reporting If you're coming into downtown Salt Lake tomorrow morning for LDS conference, or something else, you may get caught in a traffic slowdown. UDOT has some construction work planned.

The main reason they plan on doing the work tomorrow is weather. UDOT has some paving to do, and the warm temperatures aren't going to last for much longer, so crews have to get it done.

There are two spots crews will work on. They're working on the section of 5th South between Main and West Temple, re-paving the right lanes. This work will continue until about 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. And on 6th South beginning at 7:00 Saturday morning, workers will be doing similar asphalt work near West Temple.

While the work is going on, only two lanes will be open to traffic on both streets. Crews hope to have the work done on 6th south by 8:30, so conference traffic shouldn't be disrupted too much.

Bethany Eller, UDOT Public Information Officer: "The repairs that we have to do to these two streets is very sensitive to temperature, so we need to get the work done quickly because as the temperatures drop this fall, we're running out of days where we can be able to repair this road."

If you can avoid these areas by coming in on other streets, that will help reduce congestion.

By the way, traffic increases significantly on 6th South coming into downtown during LDS Conference weekends. More than 35-thousand vehicles go through there each day.
