SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A 15-year-old girl is recovering this morning after she was hit by a Salt Lake County sheriff's patrol car.

It happened yesterday at 2300 East and 4115 South. Deputies say a girl was crossing the street when an officer apparently did not see her and hit her.

Although officers say the girl was crossing with a signal, she was not in the crosswalk.

The girl was taken to the hospital, but is expected to recover.

The accident is now under investigation. Authorities say the officer has not been placed on leave.
