(KSL News) Citizens will need photo ID to vote, if a bill passed by the House becomes law.

The bill would require voters to prove they are citizens who can legally cast a ballot.

Supporters says the bill will protect U.S. citizens' right to vote by eliminating the chance someone not eligible of voting will cast a ballot.

But opponents say the bill has the potential to disenfranchise millions of voters.

The Senate still needs to act on the bill before it would become a law.
