Amalia Morales-Pacheco is the victim and is in the hospital. Mario Gueierrez Ruiz is in jail, accused of kidnapping her in Park City.
Details are still coming in tonight through the FBI, which is working with Park City Police. They found the pair in Flagstaff, Arizona. We don't know what Pacheco's injuries are or if they were caused by Ruiz, but we have been told they are not life-threatening.
It was from the Flagstaff medical center that Pacheco called her family. Her family called police, and within minutes, the FBI was at the medical center.
Sgt. Annette Ellis, Park City Police Dept.: "The suspect has been arrested and taken into custody, and he will be federally charged for kidnapping."
Police believe Ruiz may have been armed, although they haven't said yet if they found him armed or not, but they were worried about Pacheco's safety. At one point, she had filed a stalking injunction against Ruiz. He had a history of domestic violence.
The two were once a couple, but police say they had been separated for at least four months and hadn't spoken to each other.
We spoke to members of Pacheco's family earlier today. They were very worried and said nothing like this had ever happened before. Pacheco's sisters say it was through them that she was communicating, enabling the FBI to find her and arrest Ruiz.
The FBI is leading this investigation. They haven't released much information, but do say we should hear about kidnapping charges being filed against Ruiz soon.
