Gas Prices in Utah Stay High While National Avg. Decreases

(KSL News) -- While gasoline prices are dropping everywhere else, prices in Utah are still among the highest in the country.

They're down almost 20 -cents in most states, but only 4- cents, in Utah. According to The Utah Petroleum Association, the demand here is still high.

Lee Peacock, Utah Petroleum Association President: "Right now, for whatever reason, and I couldn't tell you why, the demand has stayed high when much of the rest of the country has eased a little bit."

AAA encourages drivers to increase fuel efficiency by keeping tires properly inflated and keeping fluids inside the car clean.

We should see some relief at the pumps because oil prices dropped dramatically today, to the lowest level in months. Analysts say that change should show up at the gas pump next year.

The Energy Information Administration predicts gas prices will drop to $2.55 a gallon by January. Prices will likely rise again next Spring.
