(KSL News) -- We've learned more about the Bountiful man who died trying to rescue a pet.

It happened near 900 E. 700 North in Bountiful.

David Connolly, 30, climbed up a neighbor's pine tree to retrieve the family parrot, which had flown away.

Police say Connolly accidentally grabbed a live power line with more than 7-thousand volts of power.

Investigators say Connolly likely died instantly and then fell from the tree.

Neighbors discovered him shortly after.
