(KSL News) -- A cut in food stamps has angered anti-hunger activists.
The Department of Workforce Services has cut food stamps to those able-bodied adults not currently employed or actively looking for work.
That leaves about 875 people without assistance.
Members of the Utah Anti-Hunger Coalition say the move is unfair because the policy change was not announced and a public comment period was not given before the change was made.
Workforce services contends that was not needed because the move was made as an "emergency fix" to keep the number of people receiving food stamps in check.
