(KSL News) -- The Utah National guard welcomed a special guest to Camp Williams today -- Governor Jon Huntsman.

Once a year the governor of Utah is required by law to inspect the troops in person, in a ceremony called "Governor's Day".

Gov. Huntsman: "This is a difficult time for the US. It is a time where we need to stand up and salute those who wear the uniform. It is a time when we need to thank those who support the national guard."

Some guard members were also honored for distinguished service during the ceremony.

Afterwards, the soldiers and their famililes got to spend time together.
