(KSL News) A two-car accident is under investigation this morning after a baby was ejected and one driver left the scene.

The car and SUV collided near 300 East 4000 South yesterday. The impact threw the baby out of the SUV and under the other car.

Witnesses heard the baby crying and pulled her to safety, but were amazed that she wasn't in a car seat.

Police say the 20-year-old driver of the green car then took off.

Lt. Rod Norton/ Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "At one point she was on the porch of that house being attended to. And the next point she had disappeared."

She later returned to the scene with her father.

The baby and her mother are in critical condition. The passenger in the car and driver of the SUV are in serious condition.

As of this morning, no charges have been filed.
