BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) -- A 16-year-old girl found dead in Mueller Park Canyon took seven times the lethal amount of an antidepressant, police said.
The toxicology reports indicate Samantha Mikesell took imipramine, which police said was the prescription medicine Walter Andrew White had been taking.
"It looks like she took it on her own, and he supplied it," Bountiful Police Lt. Randy Pickett said Tuesday.
White has been charged in 2nd District Court with felony child abuse; unlawful sexual activity with a minor; unlawful sexual conduct with a 16-year-old; obstructing justice, and abuse or desecration of a corpse.
Davis County prosecutors said White, a registered sex offender, and Samantha had a friendship that became sexual in October 2005 and continued until her death.
Police have said White picked up Samantha from her job at a Dee's restaurant, and the two went up to the canyon where they had been drinking and took the pills. Police said White contends he and Mikesell had made a suicide pact.
Her body was found July 6.
Troy Rawlings, a Davis County deputy attorney, said Tuesday that prosecutors are also looking at a possible homicide charge in the case.
"We are going to seriously consider it and contemplate whether we can meet the elements," he said.
White was convicted in 1996 of lewdness involving a child.
He is being held at the Davis County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
