LAYTON, Utah (AP) -- A preliminary hearing has been set for a man accused of killing his wife of 29 years at their Layton home earlier this year.

Fifty-one-year-old Richard Stuart Carlson is charged with first-degree murder and obstructing justice in the February death of his wife, 48-year-old Joanne F. Carlson.

Carlson is accused of bludgeoning his sleeping wife, smothering her with a pillow and then putting her in a bathtub to make it appear she had accidentally drowned.
