Gene Kennedy Reporting Whether you're helping in the search for Destiny, running in the marathon, or watching along the parade route, everyone is dealing with the heat.

In Salt Lake City, two people have been taken to the hospital in the last 24 hours for heat-related injuries -- not bad when you consider the thousands out there in triple-digit temperatures. Still, as we saw on the parade today, a lot of people were looking woosey.

Eight People Collapse in Heat

The people in the parade were showing some exhaustion, like Zack the Clown.

"Zack the Clown": "Ah, it's really hot right now. I'm just trying to get through."

How does he stay cool on stilts?

Zack the Clown: "I just have the kids spray me down with water; it's pretty fun."

Some haven't had such good luck.

Capt. Steve Hermanson, Salt Lake City Fire Dept.: "We've had some band members collapse, we've had some spectators collapse."

Eight people total collapsed today.

Mark Prows, Vendor: "I've seen a few kids that have come by looking a little ragged, like they need some water."

Mark Prows will serve it up, along with free snowies. With the heat out there this morning, they could barely keep up.

There were also pallets of bottled water, some of it free.

When it comes to marathon runners, doctors have treated 40 percent more this year than they did last.

Bill Cobler, Runner: "I've seen quite a number of runners with IVs, even top runners with IVs today. The times are a little slower on the race today, even with the easier course, because of the heat, it was hot."

People will find ways to cope; for some it's just shade, for others, a little more creative. Sometimes the truly unique are the ones who coordinate these parades.

Again just to reiterate, eight people collapsed today and two people were taken to the hospital in 24 hours.
