Amanda Butterfield ReportingPassengers on a UTA bus had to make a stop with their hands up. It's because of a bomb scare, the second on public transportation in less than a week.

Police took tonight's incident very seriously because of a similar scare a few days ago on a TRAX car. Eyewitness News has video you won't see anywhere else.

Police Surround Bus After Bomb Threat

Police surrounded the bus and even blocked off the road. About 20 passengers, even the driver, had to get off the bus, with hands over their heads, and get patted down.

Police say a man made a threat about a bomb. Later, a woman told the bus driver about it and the driver notified police. That's when police pulled the bus over, got everyone off, and made a sweep of the bus.

Lt. Sandra Urry, Salt Lake Police Dept.: "We took it seriously. Passengers were cooperative. You never know what we're dealing with so absolutely, we took it seriously."

It turns out the suspect had gotten off that bus, onto another one, then got off at a stop on north temple.

Police are trying to find that man who made the threat. He has long grey hair and was wearing camo or olive green, carrying a lawn chair. Police don't know his name, but UTA has had a problem with this passenger before.

It was only five days ago a TRAX line was shut down after an operator found a suspicious backpack onboard a train in Sandy. Investigators say it had all the components of a bomb.

The bomb squad used a robot to get a better look at the device and disarm it. No one was hurt.

Police are still looking for the suspect -- one witness said he saw him walking towards the homeless shelter. Police say it's possible he may have a mental disorder.
